Jonathan Olakunle Olanlokun is a social
entrepreneur, the Founder of Barbara Abike Epperson Foundation (BAEF), a
non-profit organisation, who aims at immortalising the works of his
American grandmother.
Born in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, and losing his
parents at a very tender age, he did not let his limitations limit his progress
through life. The few years he spent with his father while he was alive were
meaningful, as his father taught him how to live life productively. After the
death of his parents, he was raised and trained by his late foster grandmother,
Miss Barbara Epperson and his great uncle.
Jonathan is a trained aluminium fabricator. He is
the founder and CEO of BJB EPPERSON (NIG) LTD and Joecan Aluminium, a technical
company established in the year 2000, having trained dozens of apprentices, who
have gone on to be independently successful in their vocation too.
Jonathan Olanlokunle is a patriotic Nigerian, with
keen interest in community and national development. His passion is borne out
of the need to see the poor live a decent and transformed life – a lifestyle
that was modelled to him by his foster grandmother. Hence, he founded The
Barbara Abike Epperson Foundation (BAEF), to immortalize and uphold her
charitable legacy.
He is an advocate of poverty reduction, provision
of clean and safe drinkable water, and the promotion of clean and hygienic
environment, all of which are in accordance with the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs). Jonathan is well known for rendering selfless service to his
community and the people he finds on the street. On several occasions, he has
been found on the streets, distributing food, giving financial support, and
most importantly, giving hope to the hopeless.
In addition, he enlightens the masses about
maintaining a healthy environment, and continues to encourage fellow citizens
to be involved in making the “New-Nigeria, New-Africa” dream a reality. He
strongly believes that Nigerians can effect change in Nigeria, by positively
and actively contributing to the betterment of the country.
Furthermore, Jonathan is an active member of the
Bring Back Our Girls (#BBOG) movement.
His continuous, unrelenting philanthropic,
activism, and humanitarian activities makes him distinct amongst others.
Jonathan is, assuredly, the social change agent of
our time.

Inspiration:
I
got the inspiration to become an impact person/humanitarian because of my
family history. I lost my mother at age one and became an orphan at age 7 and
life wasn't too bad but for me, as I grew up I began to develop the inborn
traits that I inherited from my late parents and my foster grandmother. So the
desire to immortalize my late parents and also to become the change that my
country need brought about the whole concept of me becoming a CHANGE AGENT.
Driving Passion: Simple, that I Jonathan also CAN make impact in Nigeria and
Africa not minding my circumstances, status or educational background.
Unique Trait: Originality,
ability to reach the grass root, empathy, challenges don't make me give up and
the awesome feedbacks and commendations that I get from people makes my impacts
works different.
Challenging
Experience: Is just the fact that I had to pay the
price to become who I'm today
Current Challenge: My current challenges
is that I want to touch more lives and communities, because when lives and
communities are touched for good people live happily.
Expansion
Wish: To reach out more, let more and more Nigerians emulate what I do
and I want to go global.
