I published my 101 bucket list http://www.hustlewella.com/2017/08/uches-101-bucket-list.html
last
year and really have not done anything about the list (guess I was taking my time
knowing I have a lifetime to do them…) until most recently when my baby girl
beat me to one of the items on the bucket list http://www.hustlewella.com/2018/08/omg-baby-girl-has-been-made-brand.html
and in all honesty, that was a major wake up call for me. In doing that baby
girl has unknowingly been able to catapult me to a place of plain realization
that anyone can achieve anything at anytime. I believe it all depends on
willingness to attain, readiness to pay the price of attainment and of course
the undeniable factor of right opportunities that life and the big HE upstairs
brings our way. From that time, crossing out things from my bucket list has
been uppermost in my heart and in doing that I can say that this is me
practically permitting myself to live out my dreams and I am really being
intentional about it.
I must confess that I have been a
bit too cautious about starting to cross out things from my bucket list and
that is because I have this mindset that in order to prove that I am a wise and
serious minded person I need to start from the most impressive items on the
list…the ones that will bring me applause, change my social status and of
course make my pocket happier…BUT in waiting to achieve those ones, I realize
time just passes. I may think I have a lifetime to achieve the things on my
bucket list but even a lifetime is timed! So there is really no time to waste. A
lifetime does not have a measuring device as life in itself is transient. So I
have decided to start where I can. To start with the simplest ones I can afford
to close out at this point and then gradually work my way up the ladder to
handle the tougher ones. After all it’s my life and my bucket list and the only
person’s permission I need to live my dream life is me alone.
In this article, I am crossing
out item no.8 Achieve zero debt
I am debt free and intend keeping
it so till the very end of life. Indebtedness can be a great thorn in the flesh
and a stealer of a man’s sleep and rest of mind. So I am eternally grateful to
God that I am not tied down by such a menace. I am particular about this
because I have seen debt ruin lives. My late mother’s horrible experience in
the hand of money lenders is a life experience I can never forget. To protect
myself from indebtedness I try to be content with what little I have per time,
I discipline myself to live within my means, I borrow only when it is
absolutely necessary and if/ when I borrow, I only take what I know I can pay
back easily. I also always make a plan B for settlement of my debt just in case
my first plan fails.
So there it is! Item no.8 of my
bucket list checked…Others to follow shortly. Please hit the comment button and
let me know your experience with indebtedness or your own method of protecting
yourself from indebtedness.
Yours in the hustle,

DeleteI suffered stagnation and depression because of indebtedness. Sometimes I look back and see that some of those debts were really uncalled for. So I decided to live within my means and I can't a mantra daily that "I owe no man" today, what I have been able to pay off 95% of those debts and the remaining has been planned. I have not accrued any other debt yet I have been fine. Thanks be to God for breaking the yoke of debt from my life. Well done sis for this wonderful work God is helping you to do.
